When you drop a pin we store what you wrote, the category, how serious you said it is, the location, and a photo if you added one. Once a report is approved it is public.

Your name is never shown on the map or to other residents. City staff running the area your pin landed in can see the report and change its status. They do not see your address.

Park survey answers are anonymous by default. If you are signed in you can choose to attach your answer to your account, or answer anonymously instead - that choice is yours on every survey.

Age band, whether you live or work locally, postcode and whether anyone in your group has a disability or mobility need are all optional. We ask them for one reason: so the city can tell whose voices are missing from the results. You can skip every one of them and still submit.

If you leave an email address it is stored in a separate table from your answers. We cannot link an email back to what someone told us.

We store your email address, and your home address if you choose to verify that you live in the area. Verification tells the city only that you are local - never where you live. We also keep a contribution score based on approved reports.

Placehood is being developed alongside doctoral research on how residents give spatial feedback to city planning. Survey answers are only used in that research if you tick the box saying so. Your feedback reaches the city either way - the research is a separate purpose and a separate choice.

Anything used in research is reported in aggregate. No individual response, quote or location is published in a way intended to identify a person.

A cloud database provider stores the database and uploaded photos. A hosting provider serves the site.

An AI moderation service screens report text and photos for abuse and personal information before a human reviews them. That means what you write in a report is sent to that service for checking.

An analytics tool records how people move through the site so we can find broken screens.

To stop one person flooding a survey, we store a scrambled one-way version of your IP address for seven days. The address itself is never written down, and the scrambled version cannot be turned back into it.

Public reports stay on the map while the issue is live and for the life of the plan they informed. Survey answers are kept for the duration of the parks plan and any research based on it. Email addresses are kept until you ask to be removed. Rate-limiting records are deleted after seven days.

One honest limitation: a survey answered anonymously has nothing tying it to you, so we have no way to find it and delete it afterwards. If that matters to you, sign in first.

Placehood is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
